Working with your campaign's design teamOur core skill set at CampaignFoundations.com is about protecting the integrity of your data. We gladly consider handling in house database work and application development and integration projects, tasks which lean on our provision of systems and database administration and application development skills. We leave content creation to the candidates we serve, the ones on the front lines, listening to the voters and building collaboration for Green-Justice changes in public policy. There is something else we leave to others as well. I have neither the visual artistic orientation, and neither Cameron nor I have the time to acquire the rudimentary skills necessary to fake those. But more and more I find myself working with Green web designers who do know how to make our written content have visual, not just mental appeal, enhancing its emotional appeal as it does so. We can in two hours time create an opportunity for your theme developer to interact with your database of content, exploring, breaking and fixing their own theme, while leaving your public site untouched until the public unveiling of your new look. By integrating access to our versioned repository with a cron script, and a development workspace enabled as a custom theme, CampaignFoundations.com provides the members of your web development team, sandboxes which are safe to work in. As a part of our support for our clients, I will work with your designer of choice so they understand the structure of the CMS we host and can build a visual theme that uniquely and professionally represents you to your district, while integrating effectively with the content management system which makes it possible for you to share responsibility for building content on your website. If you do not have a local volunteer up to the task, feel free to ask. I'd be happy to refer folks to a small but growing list of Green minded, Drupal aware designers available on a commercial basis who can help give your site a look which will serve your election. And if your local designer is going to take on the tasks, here are some resources they may find helpful: How to Write a Design Brief and Chapter 8. The Theme System of Apress' Pro Drupal Development.
